Residential House Painting in Kelowna
Most of our working week is spent inside Okanagan homes. Pacific Painting Kelowna is a residential and commercial painting company on Pacific Avenue, and house painting, interior walls above all, has been the core of our work for more than 15 years. This page gathers all 17 of our residential services in one place, with notes on who each one suits and which ones make sense to book together.
Homeowners are the bulk of our clients, from young families in Rutland refreshing a starter home to retirees in the Lower Mission repainting before they downsize. We also paint for landlords and property managers turning over rental suites, sellers getting a house ready for listing photos, and builders and general contractors who need clean final coats before possession. Many first call us after a move, a leak, a new baby, or a decision to stop living with a colour they never really liked.
Inside, our house painters handle walls, ceilings, trim, cabinets, basements and bathrooms, plus the drywall repair and wallpaper removal that have to happen before paint. Outside, we cover siding, stucco, brick, decks, fences, pergolas, sheds and garage floors. Every job is done by licensed, insured crews with WorkSafeBC coverage and carries a written 1-year labour warranty.
Inside Your Home
Interior painting is our priority service and the largest share of our bookings. If you are unsure where to start, begin with the walls, then add the surfaces beside them: ceilings and trim are most efficient to paint in the same visit, because the room is already protected and the cut lines only get done once.

Interior Wall Painting
Our most-booked service, from a single bedroom to every wall in the house. Start here if rooms feel dated, scuffed or the wrong colour, and we will tell you at the walkthrough whether ceilings or trim need doing too.

Ceiling Painting
Yellowed, water-stained or textured ceilings rolled in a flat white that hides drywall joints. Best paired with a wall repaint so the ceiling line is cut only once.

Trim and Baseboard Painting
Baseboards, casings, crown moulding and interior doors in a hard-wearing enamel. A good fit when the walls are fine but the white trim has chipped, yellowed or been kicked by years of vacuums.

Kitchen Cabinet Painting
A smooth, sprayed finish on wood or MDF cabinet doors, drawer fronts and boxes. The right choice when the layout works and the boxes are solid, but the colour or finish has aged.

Basement Painting
Finished rec rooms, suites and bare concrete foundation walls. We check for moisture before choosing a primer, because damp concrete will push paint off from behind.
Learn more
Bathroom Painting
Moisture-resistant paint for bathrooms that fog up or show mildew spots on the ceiling. Small rooms where product choice and prep matter more than almost anywhere else in the house.
Learn more
Drywall Repair and Painting
Holes, cracks, nail pops and water damage repaired and blended so the patch disappears under fresh paint. Book it on its own after a leak, or fold it into a bigger repaint.

Wallpaper Removal and Repainting
Old paper stripped, adhesive washed off and the wall sealed before it is painted. Worth it when seams are lifting or a dated pattern is holding a room back.

Outside Your Home
Exterior work runs roughly May to early October in the Okanagan, so these slots fill first. Homeowners who book over the winter or in early spring get the widest choice of dates, and our guide to the best time to paint an exterior in the Okanagan explains why.

Exterior House Painting
Siding, soffits, fascia, trim and doors painted to stand up to strong UV and freeze-thaw winters. Choose this when paint is chalking, peeling or fading on the sunny sides of the house.
Learn more
Stucco Painting
Hairline cracks filled and stucco coated in a breathable acrylic or elastomeric finish. Suits stucco homes that look chalky, patchy or faded but are otherwise sound.
Learn more
Brick Home Painting
Dated red or orange brick refreshed with a masonry coating that lets the wall breathe. Painted brick is hard to reverse, so we talk through the trade-offs before we quote.
Learn more
Deck and Fence Staining
Cleaning, brightening and staining for decks and fences turned grey by sun. Think of it as regular maintenance that protects the wood, not only a colour change.
Learn more
Pergola and Patio Cover Painting
Wood pergolas stained or painted and aluminum patio covers refinished. Overhead work that needs proper staging, so it pairs well with deck staining in the same visit.
Learn more
Shed and Outbuilding Painting
Garden sheds, detached workshops and small outbuildings painted to match or complement the house. An easy add-on while an exterior crew is already on your property.
Learn more
Garage Floor Epoxy Coating
A flake epoxy floor system for single and double garages that shrugs off oil drips and winter road grime. The concrete is ground before coating, which is what keeps it bonded.

Choosing Colours and Healthier Paint
Two services help before a brush touches the wall. They suit homeowners stuck between swatches, and households that need paint gentler on the people living with it.

Colour Consultation
An in-home session to test large samples in your own light before you commit to gallons. Especially useful in open-concept homes where one colour has to work across several rooms and exposures.

Low-VOC and Eco-Friendly Painting
Zero and low-VOC products for nurseries, allergies, asthma and chemical sensitivities, with longer airing time built into the schedule. The upgrade over a standard premium line is usually small.

Planning a Project That Covers Several Services
Most homes need more than one service at a time. These are the combinations we suggest most often, and the planning detail that keeps each one on schedule.
| Your situation | Services that belong together | Planning tip |
|---|---|---|
| Selling your home | Interior walls, trim, drywall repair | Choose soft neutrals and book two to four weeks before listing photos |
| Just bought a resale home | Interior walls, ceilings, wallpaper removal | Paint before the furniture arrives, because empty rooms go fastest |
| Kitchen refresh without a renovation | Cabinet painting, kitchen walls, trim | Plan a few days of limited kitchen use while doors are finished and cure |
| Rental suite turnover | Interior walls, ceilings, drywall repair | Use one standard colour and sheen in every unit so touch-ups always match |
| New baby or allergy concerns | Low-VOC painting, interior walls, colour consultation | Finish the nursery several weeks ahead so the room can air out |
| Tired exterior and yard | Exterior painting, deck staining, pergola, shed | Book in winter or early spring to secure a dry-season slot |
| Basement suite | Basement, bathroom, ceilings, drywall repair | Fix any moisture source before painting, or the new coating will fail |
Combining services in one visit saves setup, protection and cleanup time, so it usually costs less than booking each one separately. For typical ranges on every service, see our guide to painting costs in Kelowna.
How We Protect Your Home While We Work
Painting happens in the rooms you live in, so the way a crew behaves inside your home matters as much as the finish. These are the routines every residential job follows.
Floors, Furniture and Fixtures
Canvas drop cloths go down on carpet and hardwood, and taped runners protect the main walking path through the house. Furniture is grouped and covered in plastic, while pianos, glass cabinets and heirlooms are discussed at the walkthrough so nothing fragile is moved without a plan.
Dust From Patching and Sanding
Patches are sanded by hand or with pole sanders, and dust is vacuumed as we go rather than swept. For larger repairs we hang plastic over doorways so dust stays in the room being worked on.
Kids, Pets and Home Offices
Ladders, tools and open cans are never left in hallways or stairs, and wet surfaces are flagged. Tell us about pets, nap times or video calls when you book, and we will plan noisy work and room access around them.
Cleanup at the End of Every Day
Each evening the walkways are cleared, rooms you need are put back into use, and brushes are cleaned away from your kitchen and bathrooms. On the final day we remove all debris and walk the house with you before we leave.
Painting an Older Okanagan Home
Plenty of Kelowna and West Kelowna houses were built before 1990, and that date matters. WorkSafeBC requires a hazardous materials survey before renovation work that could disturb asbestos in those buildings, which can be found in drywall joint compound, textured popcorn ceilings and some plaster.
Washing and painting sound walls does not usually disturb these materials, but heavy sanding, scraping a textured ceiling or stripping wallpaper can. Lead paint is also possible in older homes, most often those built before 1960, and it changes how old coatings are prepared.
If testing finds asbestos, BC law now requires a licensed abatement contractor to remove it before we start. Our guide to painting a pre-1990 home safely explains the survey and how to plan your project around it.
Residential Painting FAQs
Can you paint while we're living in the house?
Yes, and nearly all of our residential clients stay home. We work through the house in zones so a bedroom, a bathroom and the kitchen stay usable, and our default low-odour paints mean nobody has to leave for the day. Walkways are cleared every evening, so the house works normally after we pack up.
Do you paint new homes for builders?
Yes. We work with builders and general contractors on new construction and renovations, from priming fresh drywall to final coats and touch-ups after the other trades finish. Give us the possession date and we will schedule our work around the rest of the build.
How long does it take to paint a house interior?
Walls, ceilings and trim in a typical two-storey home take roughly five to ten working days. A single room is often done in a day, while repairs, dramatic colour changes and tall stairwells add time. Our interior painting page breaks the schedule down room by room.
Is it worth paying a professional painter?
For a small room you are comfortable painting, DIY can make sense. For stairwells, ceilings, cabinets, exteriors and big colour changes, a professional crew does the prep that decides how long paint lasts, finishes in days instead of weekends, and stands behind the work with a written labour warranty. Our guide on how to choose a painter in Kelowna shows what to compare between quotes.
