Restaurant and Bar Interior Painting in Kelowna

Guests notice a dining room long before they read the menu, and in a tourist town like Kelowna the room has to look its best when the summer crowds arrive. Pacific Painting Kelowna repaints the front of house for restaurants, bars, pubs, cafes and winery tasting rooms across Kelowna, West Kelowna and Lake Country. We fit the work around your closed days and late nights so you never lose a service to a paint crew.

Our clients include independent restaurant owners, franchise operators, bar and pub managers, hotel food and beverage teams, and the landlords and general contractors who build out new restaurant spaces. Typical jobs range from one dark feature wall behind the bar to a full dining room, washroom and patio refresh before the season. Each one starts with a walkthrough at a time that suits you, often between lunch and dinner.

We bring more than 15 years of painting experience to every room, and our crews are licensed, insured and covered by WorkSafeBC. Every restaurant job carries a written 1-year labour warranty, and we use low-odour commercial paints that are dry and ready for service the next day. Kitchens are handled separately with grease-resistant coatings, because back-of-house walls face very different conditions.

Painting Around Service and Tourist Season

Kelowna restaurants live by the calendar. Summer patio season pays for the year, so the smart time to paint is when the room is quiet.

  • Closed Days and Overnight Shifts

Many restaurants close one or two days a week, which gives us a full day to repaint. If you are open every day, we start after the last table turns and finish before the morning prep crew arrives.

  • Spring and Fall Shoulder Seasons

Spring, before the May long weekend, is the most popular window for restaurant painting in the Okanagan, so book early. Late fall and the quieter weeks after the holidays are easier to book and give us more flexibility on schedule.

  • Ready for the Next Service

Tables and chairs are stacked and covered, then reset where they belong before we leave. The floor is vacuumed or swept, so your staff can start setting tables right away.

Finishes That Survive Spills and Scrubbing

Restaurant walls are wiped down every night and splashed with wine, sauce and coffee all day. Ordinary flat paint wears through in a single season.

AreaFinish we usually quoteWhy
Dining room wallsScrubbable eggshell or matteLow glare under warm lighting, wipes clean
Lower walls beside tables and boothsSatin or a scuff-resistant lineTakes chair backs and nightly cleaning
Bar fronts and service stationsAcrylic enamel or a clear-coated stainResists kicks, spills and cleaning sprays
WashroomsMildew-resistant satinHandles humidity and frequent disinfecting
Doors, trim and kitchen pass-throughsSemi-gloss enamelHard film that cleans easily

For high-wear walls we often specify Benjamin Moore Ultra Spec Scuff-X or Sherwin-Williams Emerald, with Sherwin-Williams ProClassic or Benjamin Moore Advance on trim and doors. Every wall is degreased before painting, because cooking residue drifts out of the kitchen and settles on dining room walls too.

Ambience, Colour and Lighting

Deep greens, navy, charcoal and near-black walls are popular in bars and dinner restaurants because they make a room feel intimate. Dark colours absorb light, so the room needs enough fixtures to stay comfortable, and the paint needs extra coats over a tinted primer.

Warm evening lighting changes colour dramatically. A grey that looks cool at noon can turn muddy under 2700K bulbs and candles, so we paint large samples and ask you to view them during dinner service, not in daylight.

Painting the ceiling and exposed ductwork dark makes services disappear and lowers the room visually. For help building a palette around your brand and lighting, our colour consultation service uses large sample boards you can test in the room.

Bars, Booths and Wood Features

The bar is the busiest surface in the building. Refinishing what you have is usually much faster than rebuilding it.

  • Bar Fronts and Wood Trim

Scuffed bar fronts, foot-rail areas and wood trim are cleaned, sanded and either repainted in a hard enamel or restained and clear-coated.

Worn clear coats on wood features can often be scuff-sanded and recoated without stripping, which keeps the job to one or two nights.

  • Bar Tops

Bar tops take glasses, cutlery, spills and cleaning chemicals every shift. We assess the existing finish at the walkthrough and tell you whether a sand-and-recoat will hold up or whether the top needs a specialist resurfacing.

  • Booths and Banquettes

Booth frames, end panels and banquette bases are painted with a durable enamel after the upholstery is protected or removed by your upholsterer.

Changing the frame colour while recovering the seats is one of the most affordable ways to change the look of a dining room.

Patios and Pergolas

Okanagan patios take full summer sun, and stain on wood pergolas and privacy screens fades fast under that UV. We restain wood with a penetrating exterior stain such as Sikkens Cetol and repaint aluminum and steel with a direct-to-metal enamel.

Patio work has to happen before you open for the season, once overnight temperatures are warm enough for coatings to cure. Our pergola and patio cover painting page explains the process, and patio railings can be included through our metal railing painting service.

Restaurant and Bar FAQs

Can you paint our dining room overnight?

Yes. A typical dining room can be repainted in one or two overnight shifts, starting after close and finishing before the morning crew arrives. We reset the tables and clean before we leave, so you can open as normal.

Do you paint restaurant kitchens too?

Yes, but kitchens need different coatings from the dining room. Kitchen walls and ceilings take heat, grease and daily washing, so we use washable, grease-resistant systems through our commercial kitchen painting service.

Can you paint a dark ceiling over exposed ductwork?

Yes. We clean and degrease the ducts, mask everything below, and spray a dryfall coating made for exposed ceilings, which dries before overspray reaches the floor. It is usually an overnight job with the dining room fully covered.

Will paint odour affect food service?

Rarely, with the products we use. We paint with zero or low-VOC commercial paints, keep the ventilation running, and cover or move any food, glassware and bar stock out of the room first. By the next service the smell has cleared.

Can you paint while we stay open?

For a large restaurant, yes, in sections. We close off one area at a time overnight, so the rest of the room stays available and nothing wet is ever near a guest.
